Website scope worksheet

Record what is happening, what needs to improve and what the evidence supports. Use this sheet to discuss a focused repair, a redesign or a larger replacement with your team.

Your entries stay in this tab only. Print or save a PDF to keep them before closing or refreshing the page.

Project details

1. Collect evidence

For each area, record a specific observation, its date and source. Mark what is still unknown.

Can the team make the changes it needs? Identify an actual task, any workaround and whether access, training, process or software limits it.
Follow a priority task on phone and desktop. Record where it fails or becomes unclear, with the page and supporting evidence.
Which required change is difficult to support? Record the cause, what has been tested and whether a focused repair is feasible.
List useful pages, content, integrations, accounts, analytics and customer data. Identify what can be exported or preserved and who controls it.

2. Compare the work

What changes, what stays, effort to investigate, running costs and remaining limitations.
What changes, what stays, migration, integrations, training, running costs and new risks.

3. State the next decision

These labels can overlap. A redesign may keep the CMS; a rebuild may retain URLs; replatforming may accompany either. Describe the actual scope below.

Share the evidence and proposed scope with the people who publish content, maintain the site and handle customer enquiries before approving the work.
