Three Letters, Cut To Fit.

MAU makes contemporary womenswear. We built its wordmark to make an impression in the little bit of space a clothing label gives you.

The left stroke of the “M” drops low, the right stroke of the “U” reaches high, and two slim diagonal cuts frame the “A” in the middle. Those cuts give the black lettering its own silhouette.

On the denim patch mockup, you can still pick out those details at label size. The idea was to give shoppers a shape they’d recognise from one piece to the next.
